What Is Home Access Center?

The Home Access Center is a powerful web-based application that integrates grade book, attendance, and parent access into a single system. Powered by eSchoolPlus or similar student information systems, Home Access Center has become the standard parent portal at thousands of school districts across the United States.

Home Access Center (HAC) is an information and communication tool utilized by schools to connect students and parents/guardians to teachers, counselors, support staff, and administrators. Rather than relying on periodic paper progress reports or report cards, families gain instant access to up-to-date academic and attendance data.

Who Can Access Home Access Center?

HAC access is available for guardians of students in grades K-12 and for students in grades 4-12. However, grade-level eligibility varies by school district. Only contacts that are listed as "guardian" in the contact record will be able to access student information through a HAC account.

All parents MUST create their own account and not use their child's account. One HAC account may be set up to access multiple students. This is particularly helpful for families with more than one child in the school system.

How to Get Started with Home Access Center

Setting Up Your Account

Getting started with Home Access Center requires a few key pieces of information. To create a HAC account, you must be listed with the school as the student's guardian. Each guardian of a student may have their own HAC account. You must have a current email address on file with your child's school.

Enter your First Name, Last Name, City, and Zip Code then click the Register button. This information must match the guardian information in your student's enrollment application. It's crucial to use your own information during registration, not your student's.

An email will then be sent to the email address the district has listed on record with instructions on how to complete the registration and log in process. Check your inbox carefully for this email, as it contains your access code needed to finish setup.

You will also need to complete the Challenge Questions. These can be anything you want them to be. Just as long as you know the answers so you can reset your password if needed. Challenge questions provide an extra security layer if you forget your password.

Password Requirements and Security

Usernames are NOT case-sensitive, but passwords are. Take care when creating and entering your password—capitalization matters.

If you forget your login information, recovery options are available. You may retrieve your password by visiting the Home Access Center login page and clicking on the forgotten password link. The system will verify your identity using challenge questions before allowing a reset.

Key Features and Information Available

Home Access Center puts a wealth of academic information at your fingertips. Here's what you can typically access:

Grades and Classwork: Parents and students can see assignment and test grades as soon as teachers update them. This eliminates surprises at the end of grading periods. On the Grades page, you can access weekly (IPR) progress reports and report card grades. You can even select the option to receive an email when the reports become available.

Attendance Records: HAC provides detailed attendance records, including excused, unexcused absences, and tardiness.

Class Schedule: The window lists periods, times, courses, teachers, and rooms.

Registration and Demographics: The registration page provides you with important information such as student and parent demographics, bus stops, emergency information, and contact information.

Alerts and Notifications: My Alerts allows guardians and students to subscribe and change settings for the types of email alerts to receive for the student.

Managing Multiple Students

If you have an existing HAC login, you can use your account for multiple students. For web access choose the Change Student button in the top right corner of the HAC screen. This single-login approach simplifies account management for busy families.

Mobile Access with eSchoolPLUS Family App

While the web portal is your primary access point, Home Access Center (HAC) is accessible via the web or the eSchoolPLUS Family App. The application is available for iOS (7.1 and higher), Android (4.03 and higher), and Kindle devices, and can be downloaded from iTunes, Google Play, or the Amazon app store.

The eSchoolPLUS Family App allows parents to view their child's classwork, schedule, grades and other information using a smart phone or tablet. They can also set a variety of automatic notification preferences, and parents can log into the app by using their Home Access Center user name and password.

Use the app to view attendance, classwork, student grades, student schedules and progress, report cards.

Privacy and Security

Your student's information is protected by law. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a US federal law that protects the privacy of students' education records, including personally identifiable and directory information. Users are required to enter a unique User ID and Password to logon to the system, and the information is encrypted when delivered using the Secure Socket Layer connection.

St. Johns County School District is not responsible for lost or stolen account information that could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive student information. Keep your login credentials secure and log out after each session, particularly when using shared devices.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

If you don't receive your registration email, first check your junk / spam folder to be sure it wasn't accidentally delivered there. Email filters sometimes flag registration messages incorrectly.

If you're having trouble viewing content after logging in, if you are having difficulty with the website once you are logged into Home Access Center, you may need to clear your cache.

Always keep login credentials secure and log out after each session, especially when using shared devices.
